About Carly

She started writing at thirteen, kept the stories secret for a few decades, and stopped waiting just in time.

I write thrillers, horror, romance, and romantasy because I read all of it and see no reason to apologize for that. Born and raised in Louisville, Kentucky. An introvert who will talk about books for three hours if you let her.

Under the pen name Carly Black, my stories live in the dark — family secrets buried in rot, hospitals that remember too much, women who refuse to be victims. Under Carly Bryant, the books are warmer but never soft. Love stories with real edges, real people, real stakes.

My shelves are a problem. My to-be-read pile is a hazard. I've lost sleep over fictional characters and consider that time well spent. If you pick up one book from each pen name and come tell me which one surprised you more — that is exactly the kind of conversation I live for.
